Dr./Col. Antonio L. Tamayo Inducted as University Federation President President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo recently inducted Dr. Antonio Tamayo (Chairman of the Board and CEO as charter president of the National Federation of the Higher Educational Institutions of the Philippines at the Rizal Hall in MalacaƱan . CHED Chairman Emmanuel Angeles and other dignitaries witnessed the ceremony.
The federation, which consists of public and private universities and colleges, was established as a forum of meaningful and fruitful dialogue among members, to seek and adopt ways and means to attain a closer, more responsive and more effective collaboration and cooperation between the two sectors to enhance the quality and capacity of the Philippine educational system and address educational problems and needs within the context of globalization. It also aims to create a level playing field between local and state institutions of higher education and their private counterparts.
Other officers of the National Federation of the Higher Educational Institutions are: Dr. Juan Lozano (DLSU-Lipa), executive vice president; Marcelo Fernandez (Fernandez College), executive secretary; Dr. Fay Lea Patria (Bicol State University), national treasurer; Sr. Marie Assumpta David, RVM (University of Immaculate Conception), national auditor; and Ricardo PAMA (University of the Cordilleras), executive director.
