College of Maritime Education
The UPHS-College of Maritime Education recognizes the value of customer satisfaction in the competitive world of the shipping industry. It further recognizes that a major factor in this satisfaction is the supply of maritime graduates of an assured level of quality.
In view of this, the College of Maritime Education has a mission to provide the highest practicable standards in its three BS Degree Courses and Seafarers Rating Courses, complying with national and international regulations, molding young people to become competent professional seafarers and ship designers. This mission exemplifies the commitment of the College to strive for the realization of the University's mission to wit: "to produce Perpetualites who outstandingly value virtues of reaching out and helping others as vital ingredients to nation building."
Finally, the College of Maritime Education shall converge its programs in satisfying relevant international regulations on safety of life and property at sea and to the protection of the marine environment, thus adhering to the ideals of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which is: "Cleaner Oceans, Safer Ships."
Maritime Program Objectives
The College of Maritime Education mission is to provide the highest practicable quality standards in its courses and complying with the national and international regulations , molds the youth to become competent marine officers and ship designers.
The College of Maritime Education has three curricular attuned to the needs of the seafaring industry thus the college has the following program objectives to:
- Comply with the policy and standard of the commission on Higher Education, the requirements of Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
- Provide and updated curricula for the training of the students in their chosen field that will suit to the needs of the industry.
- Upgrade the capability of faculty members through appropriate training to efficiently and effectively deliver classroom instructions to students.
- Maintain updated training equipment and facilities for the college and maximize student's utilization.
- Provide a well coordinated activity of the different support services in the attainment of desired objectives.
- Require adherence of faculty and students in policies, standard and guidelines of the institutions.
- Involve the faculty and students in research activities.
- Involve the faculty and students in community outreach activities.
- Provide effective and efficient management service for the clientele.
- Increase employment opportunity globally.
