The College of International Hospitality Management and Tourism students launched a beneficial fashion show dubbed “Lakad, Ganda at Posturang Perpetualista Alay sa Katutubong Mangyan” last February 24, 2012.
The fashion event showcased student/model-owned clothes such as school uniforms, laboratory uniforms, crisp corporate attires, and the eco-wear collection of Lucban-based indigineous Filipiniana gown designer Obet Orajay.
The event raised Php 40,000.00 and all these proceeds will be used to buy school supplies for the Mangyan students in the University of Perpetual Help Learning Center in Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro. The Learning Center is an informal school where the Alternative Learning System is being utilized to educate the native Mangyans.
This student-run event was organized by fourth year section C students of the Events Management Class. It aims to promote ecological values and social responsibility amongst the studentry.
