Christmas ID Songwriting Competition


Mechanics and Guidelines

  1. The contest is open to all bonafide students (from grade school to graduate school level) (individual or group) of the UPHSD- Las Piñas campus.
  2. The Christmas ID music must be an original composition and must not have been used as entry in any song competitions.
  3. The content of the music must be lively, appealing, creative, and must highlight the meaning of Christmas.
  4. Any musical instrument can be used as accompaniment at the composer’s discretion.
  5. The duration of the music entry must not exceed (5) five minutes.
  6. The songwriter/s will be held accountable for any issues that may arise with regard to the originality and authenticity of the music. By joining this contest, the participant declares that the music is original and does not infringe on any third party’s existing copyrights. Any complaints that may arise would be the accountability of the participant as he or she would be responsible to prove authenticity.
  7. The entry must be in .mp3 format. It must submitted at the ALTACOMM/Department of Communication Office on or before November 24, 2023. Save the file in a USB and place it inside a brown envelop together with the printed lyrics of the song. Missing lyric sheet may be considered a ground for disqualification of the entry. Label the envelop with the track/song title, composer/performer’s name grade/year level and program/course; contact information (mobile number).
  8. The following criteria shall be used in judging:
  • 50% Composition
  • 20% Relevance to the Theme : The Meaning of Christmas
  • 15% Lyric Content
  • 15% Creativity
  1. Final Judging shall be made after the deadline of submission of all entries. The committee shall have the exclusive rights to the winning entry, thus, this cannot be submitted to any other competition.
  2. The winning piece will be used as the official Christmas Music ID of the university. The winner shall receive five thousand pesos (P5,000) in cash.
