YES, I DO: A MASS WEDDING ON VALENTINE’S DAY

The Rank and File Employees Welfare Association (RFEWA) proposed this activity entitled, “Yes, I Do: A Mass Wedding on Valentine’s Day” with a theme of “Kasalang Perpetualista”.

The objectives of this activity are:

1) to engage all Catholic Perpetualite employees who are cohabiting with their partners to observe the sanctity of marriage as one of the seven sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church.

2) To pledge their love and devotion to one another.

3) To make the relationship of the Perpetualite couples especially those who are living-in for so many years become official.

4) To give the Perpetualite couples civilly married an opportunity to experience their exchange of vows in the church.

The solemnization of marriage is one of the major events of our University as we prepare and celebrate the University’s Road to Gold in 2025.

The Mass Wedding project is a collaborative effort of different colleges and departments.  Dr. Arnaldo S. De Guzman, RFEWA, Community Extension Services (CES) and the Campus Ministry are the Project Heads of this activity. Rev. Fr. Ranny F. Rodriguez, RCJ Associate Chaplain of UPHSD, for the canonical interview, matrimonial requirements, marriage counseling and officiated the wedding ceremony. The College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (CITHM), takes the lead in managing the reception event and they also donated the wedding cakes of the newly wed couples. 

The College of Law initiated the legal counseling. The Graduate School for the food at the reception while the Jonelta Foundation – School of Medicine for the special gifts to the couples. The MassComm Department is in-charge for the photo shoot and video coverage while the College of Computer Studies take charge in doing for the invitation.  Ms. Joy Lozano as the Over-all Chair of the UWeek 2023 helps in making this event a reality.

The Senior High School for donating at the Last Supper of Our Lord Parish Church. Engineering and Facilities for the logistics, sound system and bridal sidecar.  The Registrar’s staff for singing love songs during the mass wedding ceremony while the other staff for the decoration at the church.  Dr. Antonio Habana, Jr. for hosting the reception. The Prefect of Discipline staff and 1 faculty from the College of Arts and Sciences as singers during the reception.

The Safety and Health Department and College of Maritime Education for the saber arch to salute the newly married couple. The Usherettes from the College of Criminology and Security Department for the safety and security of all the participants.  The beautiful bridesmaids and handsome groom’s men are the students of the College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management, while the flower girls and ring bearers from the Grade School Department.  

On February 17, 2023, 2 couples joined the mass wedding ceremony together with them are their family members, principal and secondary sponsors and the Consultant, Advisers and Officers of the Rank and File Employees Welfare Association.
