The ALTA Media Icon Awards (AMIA) voting launch took place on May 14, 2025, at the New College Building Lobby, spearheaded by third-year Communication students under the guidance of AB Communication Chairperson Ms. Rowena G. Morta. The event energized the campus with vibrant student participation and a strong sense of media pride, spotlighting excellence in communication and creative work produced by and for the university community.
After a five-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, AMIA finally made its much-anticipated comeback. Its return was made even more significant as it coincided with the 50th Founding Anniversary of the University, making the revival a highlight of the year-long celebration.
To heighten the excitement, the first 100 voters received limited-edition AMIA pins, turning the launch into more than just a voting event—it became a celebration of shared identity, unity, and pride for the KAMASKOM community. The energy, symbolism, and participation reflected the students’ unwavering passion for media and their commitment to recognizing outstanding communicators who inspire and lead through storytelling.
