Balik NGITI at Kalusugan: Promoting Oral Health Through Community Engagement with St.Hannibal Empowerment Center (SHEC)

On March 12, 2025, the College of Dentistry, in partnership with other Allied Health programs, successfully held its outreach project entitled “Balik NGITI at Kalusugan” at the New College Building (NCB). The activity welcomed participants from the St Hannibal Empowerment Center (SHEC) and aimed to promote oral health awareness within the community while providing students with hands-on training in dental care.

The event was graced by Dr. Eric Alforja, Dean of the College of Dentistry, and Dr. Gabriel Flores, Director of the Office of ETEEAP and Linkages, along with other deans, faculty members, and students from various Allied Health programs. The project reflects the institution’s commitment to community service and experiential learning, fostering both compassion and competence among future healthcare professionals.

 


 

Academic Conference Educating for Water sustainability Shaping ecologically responsible citizens

On March 11, 2025, Maynilad and the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA collaborated to host the academic conference titled “Educating for Water Sustainability: Shaping Ecologically Responsible Citizens.” The event brought together experts, educators, and students to discuss innovative strategies for promoting water conservation, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.

Key discussions focused on integrating sustainability education into academic curricula, the role of communities in water conservation, and initiatives to mitigate water scarcity. The conference aimed to inspire future leaders to adopt responsible water practices and contribute to long-term ecological sustainability.


 

MOU signing between UPHSD and Tamagawa Aero Systems Co., LTD

The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Japan’s Tamagawa Aero Systems Co. LTD last February 27, 2025. Dr. Arnaldo S. De Guzman, School Director, along with the School of Aviation Dean, Ms. Joy V. Lozano, and other faculty, staff, and students, welcomed Mr. Munihiro (Hiro) Nishi, Representative Director and President of Tamagawa Aero Systems Co., LTD.  

This collaboration aims to enhance the university’s aviation program by integrating advanced training methodologies and cutting-edge technology from Tamagawa Aero Systems. Through this partnership, students will gain access to specialized knowledge and hands-on experience, preparing them for careers in the aviation industry.

The agreement also fosters academic exchanges, research collaborations, and potential internship opportunities with Tamagawa Aero Systems Co., LDT Ultimately, this initiative strengthens the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA’s commitment to producing highly skilled aviation professionals equipped for the global workforce.


 

MOU signing between UPHSD & Bunkyo University

On February 18, 2025, the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD) formalized a transformative partnership with Bunkyo University and the Bunkyo University Foundation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at UPHSD’s Las Piñas campus. Led by UPHSD President Dr. Anthony Jose M. Tamayo, the event was attended by key officials, including Dr. Arnaldo S. De Guzman, School Director of the Las Piñas Campus; Dr. Reno Rayel, School Director of the Molino Campus; and Dr. Gabriel Archimedes Y. Flores, Director of Institutional Linkages.

The event also welcomed a distinguished Japanese delegation, including Mr. Takashi Shinkuma and four esteemed representatives from Bunkyo University. This collaboration aims to strengthen academic and cultural ties between the institutions, fostering joint research initiatives, student and faculty exchange programs, and deeper cross-cultural engagement. On February 19, 2025, Dr. Tamayo officially signed the MOU, marking the beginning of a promising alliance.

The Japanese representatives expressed their appreciation by leaving heartfelt messages in the university’s guestbook, symbolizing a strong foundation for future cooperation and shared educational endeavors.


 

St. Paul University Dumaguete

On February 7, 2025, St. Paul University (SPU) Dumaguete and the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD) officially established a partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed in Dumaguete City.

The event was attended by key representatives from both institutions, including Dr. Gabriel Archemedez Y. Flores, Director of Planning & Linkages; Dr. Lourelie Carreon Siy, Executive Director of DEAC; and Dr. Josephine D. Dasig, Head of Community Extension Services from UPHSD. Representing SPU were Sr. Mila Grace A. Silab, President; Sr. Helen Malubay, Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Mr. Erven K. Noay, Head of External Affairs.

This collaboration aims to enrich educational opportunities and strengthen community engagement through joint research initiatives, lectures, and seminars while introducing student immersion programs designed to provide practical experience and skill development. Furthermore, a strong focus on quality assurance activities will enhance educational standards and institutional effectiveness. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to academic excellence and community service, ensuring meaningful benefits for students, faculty, and society as a whole.


 

UPHSD Explores Partnership with Mori Hospitality Corporation for Student and Faculty Opportunities

The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD) welcomed representatives from Mori Hospitality Corporation to its Las Piñas campus. The delegation included Mr. Masayuki Murooka from the Human Resources Department, UPHSD Linkages Director Dr. Gabriel Archemedez Y. Flores, and other key representatives. The purpose of their visit was to explore potential collaborations between UPHSD and Mori Hospitality Corporation, focusing on opportunities for students and faculty.

During the visit, discussions centered on internship programs, training opportunities, and potential employment pathways for UPHSD students in the hospitality industry. This partnership aims to enhance the university’s hospitality and tourism programs by providing real-world industry exposure and fostering global career opportunities for graduates.


UPHSD Welcomes Finnish Delegates for Future Collaborations and Academic Partnerships

On January 17, 2025, the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD) warmly welcomed over sixty government officials and business delegates from Finland, led by Finnish politician Mr. Arto Satonen. UPHSD President Dr. Anthony Jose M. Tamayo hosted the visit, which focused on discussions about potential collaborations and academic partnerships aimed at strengthening international cooperation.

The Finnish delegates were given an extensive campus tour, where they explored key facilities showcasing UPHSD’s advanced educational resources and innovative learning environments. This visit not only fostered meaningful exchanges between UPHSD and Finland’s academic and business sectors but also reinforced the university’s commitment to expanding global partnerships and enhancing educational opportunities for its students and faculty.


 

Courtesy call to the Mayor and the Health Officer of Pasay City

On December 9, 2024, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD) Linkages Director Dr. Gabriel Archemedez Y. Flores, along with College of Nursing Dean Ms. Imelda Javier and the Dean of the College of Dentistry Dean Dr. Eric Alforja, paid a courtesy call on Pasay City Mayor Imelda Gallardo Calixto-Rubiano and the City Health Officer.

The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration, discuss ongoing health initiatives, and explore potential partnerships to enhance healthcare services within the city. The UPHSD officials briefed the Mayor of the on-going project “Balik Ngiti at Kalusugan” in collaboration with the rogationist priests and residents of the SHEC in Pasay City.


 

The Joint Management and Tourism Summit, hosted by the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD) and Van Lang University (VLU), took place on November 25-29, 2024, at Van Lang University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The summit was attended by 62 participants, comprising  three (3) faculty members and thirty-one (31) students from the College of Business Administration and Accountancy, along with three (3) faculty members and twenty-five (25) students from the College of International Tourism, Hospitality, and Management. 

Experts from both Universities provided valuable insights into topics such as sustainable tourism, technological advancements, market trends, consumer behavior, and current issues in accounting and finance. The event aimed to deepen the understanding of the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of management and tourism.

The summit served as a platform for participants to exchange ideas, present research findings, and forge meaningful connections. Networking opportunities were also done during the event, encouraging collaboration among academics, industry practitioners, and stakeholders. These interactions fostered partnerships and the development of innovative solutions.

The 17th Assessor Training Workshop for the AUN-QA Programme Assessment took place from October 17 to 23, 2024, at Ateneo de Manila University. This event was participated by educators coming from ASEAN country; UPHSD is represented by  Dr. Gabriel Archemedez Y. Flores, Head of Planning, Linkages, ETEEAP & CPD; Dr. Loureli Carreon Siy, Executive Director/QMR; Dr. Ernesto F. Ramirez, OIC-School Director of Calamba Campus; and Ms. Mira Ramirez, Head of Linkages. The event in this activity aimed to enhance the skills and competencies of assessors involved in the quality assurance processes of higher education institutions.

Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in a variety of sessions designed to deepen their understanding of the AUN-QA framework and best practices in assessment. Collaborative discussions and hands-on activities allowed attendees to share insights and experiences, fostering a supportive network among educational leaders. By the end of the week, participants returned to their Institution with a renewed commitment to advancing quality assurance in their respective institutions, equipped with new tools and strategies to effectively contribute to the ongoing improvement of educational standards.
